Athletics

Whether you're skilled in an individual sport or a champion in a team sport, we want to hear from you. Our goal is to ensure that everyone is having fun and campers are challenging themselves. Be prepared to showcase your skills during our camp tournaments and inter-camp leagues.

Athletics Activity Director

Preferred Experience/Qualifications;

As Athletics Activity Director, you are responsible for overseeing the Athletics program. The Athletic Activity Supervisors may support you, but this is all dependent on camp size.
 
This role is incredibly rewarding. However, it is hard work and you must feel confident to take charge of this area for the entire duration of camp. 

Your role will include;

Cheerleading

Preferred Experience/Qualifications;

 

As Cheerleading Coach, you are responsible for the safe and fun delivery of cheerleading classes to campers. 

Your role will include the teaching of;

Fencing

Preferred Experience/Qualifications;

As a Fencing Coach, you are responsible for teaching correct protocol. This will allow campers to take part in a ’bout’ of fencing on a piste, including;

You will also be required to inform campers about the different types of sword used during a ’bout’, such as the Epee, Foil or Sabre sword and how they differ.

 

Safety of campers is paramount and as coach, you will need to make this your top priority while making sure you are holding a fun and rewarding activity session.

 

The completion of a camp-recognised first aid qualification may also be required.

Gymnastics

Preferred Experience/Qualifications;

 

As Gymnastics Coach or Assistant, you are responsible for the safe and fun delivery of gymnastics classes to campers. 

 

You will be expected to lead warm up/conditioning sessions to prepare campers for each session. 

Your role will include teaching one specific area or, in a more general position, all of the following;

The completion of a camp-recognised first aid qualification will also be required.

Other in-demand skills – Track & Field, Road Cycling, Ultimate Frisbee

Athletics Activity Director

Preferred Experience/Qualifications;

  • Exceptional experience (practical & teaching) in a variety of different athletic activity areas
  • Experience in the supervision of staff teaching preferred 

As Athletics Activity Director, you are responsible for overseeing the entire running of the Athletics program on camp. Dependant on camp size, you may also be supported by Athletics Activity Supervisors who will assist you in delivering your job. 

Although this role is incredibly rewarding, it is hard work and you must feel confident to be the person in charge of this area for the entire duration of camp. 

Your role will include;

  • the scheduling of athletics activities
  • the organisation and supervision of athletics staff
  • creating lesson plans
  • staff performance reviews
  • maintenance of activity areas and equipment

Cheerleading

Preferred Experience/Qualifications;

  • Cheerleading at University Level and/or BCQ (British Cheerleading Qualification) Level 1 or above

As Cheerleading Coach, you are responsible for the safe and fun delivery of cheerleading classes to campers. 

Your role will include the teaching of;

  • Backhand springs/Flips
  • Complete cheer routines including dance & choreography
  • Thigh Stands/Twist Downs/Lift/Toss
  • Jumps/Stunts

The completion of a camp-recognised first aid qualification may also be required.

Fencing

Preferred Experience/Qualifications;

  • Introduction To Coaching Fencing (ITCF – L1) or above

As a Fencing Coach, you are responsible for teaching correct protocol which will allow campers to take part in a ’bout’ of fencing on a piste, including; 

  • How it runs
  • The correct way to wear protective clothing 
  • Etiquette
  • Scoring

You will also be required to inform campers about the different types of sword used during a ’bout’, such as the Epee, Foil or Sabre sword and how they differ.    

Safety of campers is paramount and as coach, you will need to make this your top priority while making sure you are holding a fun and rewarding activity session.

The completion of a camp-recognised first aid qualification may also be required.

Gymnastics

Preferred Experience/Qualifications;

  • General, trampoline, acrobatic, tumbling, rhythmic gymnastics level 1 (to assist)
  • General, trampoline, acrobatic, tumbling, rhythmic gymnastics level 2 or above (to lead sessions)

As Gymnastics Coach or Assistant, you are responsible for the safe and fun delivery of gymnastics classes to campers. 

You will be expected to lead warm up/conditioning sessions to prepare campers for each session. 

Your role will include teaching one specific area or, in a more general position, all of the following;

  • Floor & Tumbling – Backward roll, cartwheels, flips, walk overs, forward roll, handstands, tumbling
  • Asparatus – assemble/dismantle equipment, bars (asymmetric Female, high bar Male) Beam (Female) Pommel Horse/Rings (Male), Vault
  • Rhythmic – Acrobatics, Ball, Clubs, Choreography, Hoop, Ribbon
  • Trampolining – Pike, Rotations, Straddle, Somersaults, Tuck, Twists

The completion of a camp-recognised first aid qualification will also be required.
